WHO WE ARE

Artisans Vignerons de Naoussa is a union of growers that share the same passion in cultivating the variety of Xinomavro, in the scattered vineyards throughout the hills of Naoussa region.

This partnership was created in order to promote the philosophy of sustainable viticulture and the results of its practices that are reflected into the the wines produced. Under the same roof, with the condition of nothing but excellent raw material and as less interventions as possible during the vinification process the results can be nothing but excellent.

Naoussa Region is located in North of Greece in the historical area of Imathia.

Covered with forests and creeks, in the shadow of mt. Vermio, the Xinomavro grape thrives inside its birthplace. A huge diversity of soil types, aspects and microclimates combine in the scattered vineyards to show their full potential in producing mesmerizing and unique wines. A crucial role in that long lived tradition played the unique variety of Xinomavro; acid, black, tannic and simultaneously ethereal, it has the ability to express nature and the grower’s craftmanship through the great wines of Naoussa.

ARTISANS VIGNERONS

P.D.O NAOUSSA / 100% XINOMAVRO

VINEYARDS: Certified organic throughout the region of Naoussa at an altitude up to 400m and the average age of vines is 25 y.o.

SOILS: Limestone based with granite and schist sub-soil.

CLIMATE: Warm Continental climate with hot summers and mild to cold winters. The constant breeze from the mountains in addition with the altitude play a crucial role in the ripening process of the grapes. Hail storms and wild boars are the main hazards during the growing season.

VINIFICATION: Harvest 19th of September to the 10th of October. Maceration lasted for 25 days and fermentation occurred with indigenous yeasts and was completed after 1-2 months.

OAK MATURATION: 12 months on used oak barrels (500lt).

TASTING PROFILE: Very classic on the nose, with the trademark sundried tomato and olive past combination, expressed with remarkable clarity. Similarly clear, almost linear, on the palate, with consistent aromatic, and hint of sweeter red fruit.

SKYPHOS XINOMAVRO

VINEYARDS: Certified organic, scattered throughout the region of Naoussa and other wine growing areas of Macedonia, Greece.

SOILS: Limestone based with granite and schist sub-soil.

VINIFICATION: Harvest starts on the 19th of September to the 10th of October. Maceration lasts for 18 days and fermentation occurred with indigenous yeasts and was completed after 1-2 months.

OAK MATURATION: 4 Months on used oak barrels (500lt).

TASTING PROFILE: Aromas of fresh black and red fruits with elegant herbaceous characteristics. On the palate is dry with refreshing acidity and round tannic structure. The aftertaste is long and complex.

SKYFOS ASSYRTIKO

VINEYARDS: Certified organic, scattered throughout the region of Naoussa and other wine growing areas of Macedonia Greece.

SOILS: Sandy, Clay.

CLIMATE: Warm Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild to cold winters.

VINIFICATION: Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, for approximately 12-15 days, at controlled temperatures of 16-18°C.

TASTING PROFILE: Long dry aftertaste with balanced acidity. Much perfect with Mediterranean dishes and oysters and grilled fish.
